Blood Test Consultation in Enfield: Which Test Do You Actually Need?
Iron? Thyroid? Cortisol? All of them? When a clinic menu lists around twenty tests and every symptom seems to overlap with every other symptom, choosing blind is a quick way to waste money. That is exactly why we offer a blood test consultation Enfield clients can book before committing to anything. At Shamis Health & Beauty, you sit down with a clinician, describe what is going on in your own words, and decide together which tests are actually worth taking. People come to us from Enfield, Enfield Highway, Ponders End, Brimsdown and across North London with the same question — “which one do I need?” — and leave with a short, sensible answer. No referral needed, and no medical vocabulary required.
You can book a consultation online or by phone, and if the plan makes sense, the blood draw can happen in the same visit.
Collect Blood → 15 mins results → Get Treatment — if you test on the day, results come back in around 15 minutes, and any treatment step is only discussed if it is suitable for you.
The menu is long on purpose — you do not have to pick alone
The menu is long because bodies are not simple. Tiredness might be iron, thyroid, stress or sleep. Weight changes might be thyroid, blood sugar or neither. The NHS overview of blood tests notes that blood tests can check general health, investigate symptoms and monitor ongoing conditions: three very different jobs, and each points to different tests. Iron sits near thyroid near cortisol on the page, and the symptom lists for all of them read like the same bad week.
Choosing from a list on a website means guessing which job yours is. A consultation replaces the guess with a conversation. We listen first, then match the tests to the person in front of us. Sometimes that means two tests instead of the six you had in your cart. Sometimes it means one you had never heard of. Either way, you only pay for what earns its place.
What we ask in a blood-test consultation
Nothing scary. We ask what brought you in and how long it has been going on. We ask about sleep, stress, shift work, training loads and what a typical week looks like. We ask about medicines and supplements, because some of them affect results. For women, cycle changes and perimenopause questions often matter. For men, mood, drive and gym recovery come up more often than you might think.
We also ask what your GP has already checked. There is no point paying privately to repeat a test the NHS ran last month, and we will tell you if that is the situation you are in. Plain English throughout. If we use a term you do not know, stop us.
We also ask what you want from the answer. Some people want reassurance that nothing is wrong. Some want a baseline before they change how they eat or train. Some carry one specific worry they want settled. The goal shapes the plan as much as the symptoms do.
Typical starting combinations we discuss
Every plan is individual, but patterns repeat. A few examples of what we talk through most often.
For exhaustion, the usual starting point is iron, vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D, with thyroid (TSH) and cortisol added when the story suggests stress or a sluggish thyroid. For stress and burnout on their own, cortisol is usually the headline test, sometimes with thyroid alongside, because the two can mimic each other. For hormone questions, our female health blood tests and men’s health blood tests packages group the relevant markers together, which works out simpler than picking one by one. For a general picture, the “I just want to know where I stand” visit, we talk through blood sugar (HbA1c), heart and kidney markers alongside the basics.
Whatever the combination, it is one blood draw on one visit. Bundling this way saves a second trip and a second needle. You can browse the full menu on our blood testing page beforehand if you like — but you do not need to revise for it.
Same-visit testing when it makes sense
Most people do consultation and testing in one trip. You talk, you agree the plan, trained staff take the sample, and results come back in around 15 minutes. If a result points towards a next step such as vitamin shots or IV drips, that is a separate conversation with pre-treatment screening, sterile clinic-mixed solutions and trained staff, and it only goes ahead if suitable. If the right next step is your GP, we say so.
There is no pressure to test on the day. Some clients take the advice and book their blood test for a later date; some take the plan to their GP. Both are fine with us. If you would rather think it over first, take the plan home. The notes from your consultation are yours, and the prices we quote will still be there when you decide.
You will find us at 530 Hertford Road, open Monday to Friday 10am–6pm and Saturday to Sunday 1pm–6pm.
Blood test consultation Enfield: FAQs
Is the consultation separate from the test fee?
Yes, the consultation and the tests are priced separately, and you will always hear the cost of each test before anything is taken. If you would like a figure for the combination we suggest, ask when you call and the team will talk it through with you.
Can I do the consultation and the blood draw in one visit?
Yes, and most people do. You sit with the clinician, agree the tests, and we take the sample there and then. Results are back in around 15 minutes, so many clients leave with their answers on the same day rather than waiting weeks for a letter.
What should I bring?
Bring a list of your medicines and supplements, any recent blood results from your GP or another clinic, and a rough note of your symptoms and when they started. That is plenty. You do not need a referral or a GP letter to book.
Do I need to know which test I want before I book?
No. That is the whole point of the consultation. Book in, describe what is going on in your own words, and we will match the tests to you. You will never be pushed towards tests you do not need, or sold ones you have already had done.
Can I have a vitamin shot or drip straight after?
Only if the results and screening support it. Shots and drips follow pre-treatment screening by trained staff using sterile, clinic-mixed solutions. Sometimes the right next step is your GP instead, and we will tell you that honestly, without a sales pitch.
